Photo of optical table A descrption of my work with ultracold rubidium atoms in a kagome optical lattice can be found here.

Recently, I led a study of non-trivial topological aspects of the band structure of an optical honeycomb crystal, which has important consequences for exotic material properties; this work was recently posted on arXiv.

Separately, In graduate school I built a new apparatus to perform experiments with levitated drops of superfluid helium in high vacuum. In new work posted on arXiv, I present a thorough characterization of the thermal, mechanical and optical properties of these levitated drops. These drops offer an interesting platform for quantum optomechanics experiments.
